Christ-Like, a 7-Day Devotional Journey

 Day 6: Walk carefully

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit. – Ephesians 5:15-18

To be Christ-like is to live-like Christ. The Apostle Paul instructs us to consider how we walk (which in the New Testament biblical understanding means “how we live”). Have you ever given much thought to how you go about your living? By this, I do not mean how you earn a living or your day to day activities per se. But, how careful are you with your walk in Christ? Three thoughts I would ask you to consider and put in practice from the Scriptural passage above:

First, walk wisely. Follow God’s word wholeheartedly. Read and study these passages: Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3 and Proverbs 3:5-6 (actually if you have never read Proverbs in its entirety now would be a great time to start). Second, consider your time. The straight chase here is …devote your time to God as priority. In most cases, church attendance is not priority, it’s habit. You’ll know you’ve been changed by the Holy Spirit when Bible study and daily reading become your weekly priority in addition to church. Otherwise, are you really any different from anyone else? Third, allow your mind, your heart, and your being to be filled by the Spirit of God.

Notice, all three thoughts deal with how we think which lead to how we act. Therefore, THINK about this carefully and ACT on it.
